Our very own armed forces veteran, Keith Jackson, is volunteering his time and expertise to participate in the Forces MoneyPlan initiative, giving free financial guidance to sick and injured armed forces personnel and veterans.
As a member of the Personal Finance Society, Keith was recently introduced to the new Forces MoneyPlan service and wanted to share his 8 years’ experience with a sector of society who, like Keith, have given much for their country.
Keith Jackson, said: “The Forces MoneyPlan initiative is extremely close to my heart and as soon as I heard about it I jumped at the chance to sign up. 40 years ago, I served in the Royal Navy and I was involved in the Falklands Task Force, joining up with other young lads. Together we served on the ships in the Falkland’s conflict and several of my fellow shipmates paid the ultimate price. Today I still feel a personal affinity to the service, the sense of belonging never leaves you.
“I am also a fully accredited member of the Society of Later Life Advisers, so I am trained to deal with potentially vulnerable people. This is the first time, however, that in my capacity as a financial adviser, I can give up my time to assist fellow service personnel, and I really feel that I am doing some good in helping them.”
Since 2007, the Personal Finance Society has worked closely with the Citizens Advice Bureau to provide pro bono financial guidance to people who would not ordinarily be able to access professional advice. The ‘MoneyPlan’ partnership, was the launch pad for the Forces MoneyPlan.
The Forces MoneyPlan service provides sick and injured armed forces personnel and veterans with information, knowledge, and guidance to give them greater confidence and the knowledge and ability to take a greater control of their financial affairs.
At Allied Financial Services we actively encourage our staff to give back to the local community with ongoing fundraising and community initiatives.
